Woman with MS, Says Workouts Loosened Disease’s Grip

A woman diagnosed with a progressive form of form of multiple sclerosis has credited an exercise video with putting her in the best shape of her life.
For someone who never thought she’d walk again, Cammie Lusk has made huge strides. Until a year ago, Lusk was confined to a wheelchair.
“I’m laying in bed, I go to get out of bed and I can’t get out bed and I would have to have my husband pick me up and put me into that wheelchair,” she said.
In 1998, Lusk’s life changed. At 28, and with young children, doctors diagnosed her and didn’t have much hope. 
“When I turned 40, I’d be in a nursing home,” Lusk said.
Within three years, she couldn’t walk, play with her children or get out of bed by herself. She slipped deeper and deeper into depression.


“I look in the mirror and my eyes are dead. I get into the bathroom and my eyes are dead because I was beaten — that disease beat me,” Lusk said.
