The questions were based on the results of the 2010 World MS Day survey of people with MS and their carers. More than 12,000 people responded to this survey and showed that simple changes in the workplace would have enabled thousands of people to stay in work for longer. Flexible working hours, seated work, and a place to rest during the day were all low cost solutions that could have a huge impact on the working lives of people with MS.
The 2011 survey aims to find out the kinds of policies and facilities that are already in place to support people with MS and other chronic and fluctuating health conditions.
The petition, also available in seven languages, demands that employers and policy makers recognise the rights of people with MS to work.
The findings will be used on World MS Day 2011, to ask for change in more than 85 countries around the world, backed by the show of support evidenced in the petition.
