Farren Briggs is an epidemiologist on the faculty in the School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, whose passion for building our understanding of Multiple Sclerosis is contagious. ACP originally connected with Farren about a year ago, when he began using patient samples and clinical data from our Repository to pursue his principal research interests: identifying factors that influence people’s susceptibility for MS, and identifying the factors that influence the progression of the disease.
- Which combination of genetic and environmental factors
increases an individual’s chances of getting MS? - Which combination of genetic and environmental factors contributes to rapid progression of
MS? - What factors lead to the appearance of MS when people are relatively young?
- What is the role of co-morbidities (other diseases that people have simultaneous to having MS)
on chances of getting MS? - Does the timing of co-morbidity onset influence the severity of MS?
Epidemiologist, Farren
Briggs, is conducting research to identify factors that influence people’s
susceptibility to getting MS, and cause progression of the disease.
