“Men are like wine–some turn to vinegar, but the best improve with age.”
(inspirational message)
That quote comes from Pope John XXIII. And in this age of social media, he could easily be interpreted as referring to a man’s appearance. However he was reaching at something much, much deeper – a man’s character; their soul, their spirit, their essence. In other words their moral fiber. My heroes since I was a little boy have all been men of character. Conservative. Liberal. Right, left. And somewhere in between. Men of different faiths, philosophies, and theologies. But what they all had in common was good moral fiber.A real man for me has always been one who seeks to grow in the image and likeness of his Creator. Not for wealth, power, fame, or fortune. But one who truly seeks to grow, spiritually, even when it hurts!A poem called “The Dash” comes to mind. It’s about that little line on our tombstones in between birth and death representing the life we lived. The poem encourages us to think about our “Dash.”When my time comes I want my dash to stand for something. Something good. Something substantial. Something, in my case, born out of the experiment of dipping my toes in the water of hell, being invaded by God’s Grace, and living to talk about it.Remember, it’s never too late. You can still:1. Start over.2. Learn something new.3. Believe in yourself.4. Create new dreams.5. Set new goals.6. Return to faith.7. Be who you want to be.8. Make peace with yourself & others.9. Stick to your promises.10. Find meaning, fulfillment, & joy in your life. All you need to get started is the Desire and Dedication. As your Executive Coach, I’ll provide the Directions.Discreet.
