WICHITA FALLS, Texas — A Texas lawmaker recently received an adult stem cell treatment to help treat his multiple sclerosis.
The procedure is similar to what Gov. Rick Perry had done in July for an aching back. Perry had stem cells taken from fat in his own body that were then grown in a lab. They were injected into his back and his bloodstream during an operation to fuse part of his spine.
He told the Wichita Falls Times Record News that the treatment, from his own stem cells, has worked phenomenally.
State Rep. Rick Hardcastle, R-Vernon, was diagnosed with MS almost 10 years ago. He told the Wichita Falls Times Record News that the treatment, from his own stem cells, has worked phenomenally (http://bit.ly/stKYOt).
The Food and Drug Administration hasn’t approved using adult stem cells, but experimentation is common.
