Acthar (repository corticotropin injection) is natural source ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) in 16% gelatin to provide a prolonged release after intramuscular or subcutaneous injection.
Acthar may be used in the treatment of acute exacerbations of multiple sclerosis as well as a range of other diseases and disorders having a central nervous system or inflammatory component. In the treatment of acute exacerbations of multiple sclerosis daily intramuscular doses of 80-120 units for 2-3 weeks may be administered.
