Ensure a more relaxing getaway, when you are living with relapsing MS

To ensure a more relaxing getaway, when you are living with relapsing MS, it is helpful to plan ahead before you travel.
Develop a treatment plan before you travel, and if you plan to travel with someone else, it may help to involve him or her as well. For instance, if you require assistance with your treatment regimen, talk to your traveling partner ahead of time about how they may help you. If it is the first time he or she is assisting you with treatment, it might be helpful to demonstrate your treatment process beforehand and cite specific actions you’d like him or her to perform for you. If you need someone to help you administer injections, make sure your travel partner has received training from a health care professional before you start your journey.
If you are traveling for an extended period of time, try to plan in advance where and when you want to administer treatment. It’s also helpful to plan out exactly how many doses you will require while you are away. And it’s a good idea to bring extra medication with you in case of unexpected travel delays.
If you are traveling to a different time zone, you may want to speak to your health care professional about adjusting your injection schedule appropriately.
There may be other ways to plan ahead to make your vacations more comfortable. For example, do you prefer a walk-in shower at your hotel? Or, are there ways you can conserve energy so you can spend it doing the things you really want to do? Consider using transportation across the airport or asking whether your accommodations provide in-room dining service so you can enjoy a more relaxing meal if you want to catch up on extra rest.
